Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs

The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) builds the capacity of community leaders and policymakers by providing technical support, applied research, policy evaluation, and training across the state. IIRA is a clearinghouse for information on rural issues, coordinates rural research, and works with state agencies on issues of importance to rural communities. The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs seeks to improve the quality of life for rural residents by partnering with public and private agencies on local development and enhancement efforts. Recognizing that solutions to rural problems required a comprehensive and organized approach and that the only effective solutions will come from local leaders and policy makers, the Institute works on eight main issues:

Value-Added Rural Development
Education
Health Care
Transportation & Infrastructure
Public Management including data to support effective planning practices

Type: Capacity Building
Strengthen ND is a dynamic, multi-faceted and well-connected organization that works across North Dakota (ND) to elevate nonprofits and rural communities to support a high quality of life and resources for vulnerable populations through community development. By focusing on providing nonprofit and rural community capacity building opportunities, advancing regional issues and facilitating community solutions, Strengthen ND has been able to support and accelerate community development.
Strengthen ND approaches supporting communities, organizations and professionals with practical and applicable tools and approaches that can be implemented quickly and efficiently to support long-term successful outcomes. Strengthen ND has specifically been working throughout ND to aid nonprofits and rural communities with action planning, strategic planning, fundraising, project management, budgeting and financial management, succession planning and grant writing through workshops and one-on-one coaching. Additionally, Strengthen ND has worked as an intermediary for several grantmaking organizations to facilitate proposal recruitment and development for charitable investments.

The Office of Rural Prosperity seeks to foster vibrant, prosperous and resilient rural communities across Wisconsin. The Office provides a one-stop shop to help rural stakeholders navigate programs and resources serving rural communities and businesses.
The Office of Rural Prosperity is housed within the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
