Universal Playground

Youth participants will create a design for a new playground space that incorporates universal design principles.

Introducing universal design to youth can be a very daunting concept. Using an activity that puts youth in the shoes of those who may be different than themselves, they will design a playground that anyone can use, no matter their ability or age. This activity introduces the 7 principles of universal design. Universal design is the design of buildings, products, or environments to make them accessible to all people, regardless of age, disability, or other factors.
