SPOTLIGHT: Arkos Design’s Greenleaf Treehouse Village

Arkos Design’s Greenleaf Treehouse Village provides a nature-focused atmosphere for YMCA campers at Camp Eberhart in Michigan.

In 2017, Arkos completed work on the Camp Eberhart YMCA Treehouse Village; four identical, open-air treehouses away from the bustle of the main campgrounds and nestled quietly along the shores of Turtle Bay. Each two-story, elevated treehouse provides sleeping for 12 campers and a counselor. The upper sleeping platform is roofed and screened covering a lower platform for gathering and social time. Arkos Design approached this design challenge by integrating the built-in environment within the context of the community, using form, space, material, and light to create functional and efficient buildings that connect to their surroundings in order to enhance people’s lives.
