SPOTLIGHT: NeighborWorks Sacramento’s NeighborsCare Program

NeighborWorks Sacramento launched an initiative to work alongside local organizations and businesses to provide direct resources and support to underrepresented communities as a collaborative effort.

As part of the NeighborsCare effort, Neighborworks Sacramento holds Community Yard Cleanups and Block Parties at designated homes in distressed neighborhoods. NeighborsCare partners work alongside residents to provide labor and tools to beautify impoverished blocks. Immediately following, they host a community block party for the residents to provide additional resources, promote neighborhood safety, and encourage community. Community participation and sponsorship is essential to creating a significant impact.

To host a similar effort, communities will need volunteers to assist in yard cleanup, donated yard tools, supplies, and equipment, monetary donations for the purchase of additional resources, and community resource sponsors to provide resources/services to the community.
