SPOTLIGHT: ARPC’s Cycle the Arts

Apalachee Regional Planning Council’s Cycle the Arts partners with RideOn, COCA and LovetoRide Florida Challenge to create a new cycling experience in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Apalachee Regional Planning Council created specially designed local biking routes that take an hour at a comfortable pace for beginners and families to complete. They worked with COCA to identify public art located along those bike routes, relying on COCA’s Outdoor Public Art Directory and map, a database which highlights Tallahassee’s over 300 outdoor works of art, including local sculptures, murals, windows, monuments, and memorials.

The purpose of the program is to reduce the number of persons traveling alone while commuting to and from work or higher education institutions while enhancing commuting options for everyone in the Florida panhandle.
